Writing, creativity, writer’s block, efficiency: all these ideas come to mind when it goes to writing something. But I want to talk about the tools because if you work efficiently, you can write undistracted and let your thoughts flow.

How to not waste time with format

Form follows function, so use a tool for text only.

And do not waste time in Word or PowerPoint moving pixels from one side to the other.

That means: markdown

Or LaTeX if you hate yourself.

The structure gap

It’s tempting to use a mind map tool or concept tool or whatever in the beginning.

But if you think as you write along, you can just use the outline of the Markdown.

Tools

Visual Studio Code has an outline, but an even better tool is Markmap.
